"I.L Itinerari Linguistici" is based in Città di Castello, a beautiful renaissance town in northern Umbria, "The Green Heart of Italy". Our Association office headquarters are situated in an antique Palazzo in the heart of the historical centre of the town. The town is strategically situated in the “Alta Valle del fiume Tevere”, ("The Upper Tiber Valley"). The Town is only 10 km from the border with Tuscany. Therefore is possible to easily reach some beautiful places in Tuscany, such as Sansepolcro, where the famous artist Piero della Francesca was born and worked & Arezzo, where the Oscar winning film by Benigni “La Vita è bella” ( Life is beautiful) was filmed. The famous beautiful town of Cortona or the atmospheric town of Anghiari are nearby or a short trip for there is Caprese, the place where Michelangelo was born. All these places are around 40 minutes pleasant drive away from the town.

From Città di Castello you can reach other wonderfully splendid places of the Upper Tiber Valley such as Montone, Monte Santa Maria Tiberina, Citerna, Lisciano Niccone, Pietralunga, San Giustino, Umbertide and the rest of Umbria: Perugia, Gubbio, Assisi, Foligno, Spello, Spoleto, Trevi, Montefalco, Bevagna and Trasimeno Lake. The distances are short and you can easily visit more than one city in a day. All the Umbria Towns are very famous and full of history and tradition. The region of Umbria is called “The green heart of Italy” for its wonderful nature, the landscape, the marvelous hills, the gorgeous view and the picturesque scenery.
Because of our central position you can also easily reach Firenze which is only an hour and a half away by car, or you can reach Roma in 2 hours and 20 minutes or Venice in 4 hours. Trains to Firenze run from Arezzo
if you do not want to drive into the centre of the town. We can assist
you in planning your journey whether using your own car, hire car or by
public transport. As well as the famous towns and their sights, you could drive through the fabulous scenery of the central Apennine Mountains and across the region of the Marche to reach the seaside resorts of Rimini, Fano and others, or to the famous and beautifully majestic town of Urbino, the past headquarters of grand families & armies. There you will also find artworks of Raffaello, who, when he was young, came to Città di Castello and there painted some beautiful and famous paintings. Raffaello also worked in San Pietro in Roma where he painted the rooms of Pope Leone X. Other famous and prestigious painters also worked in Città di Castello such as Luca Signorelli, Giorgio Vasari, who made the first book of “Lives of the artists” and the Della Robbia brothers, who created lots of ceramics, earthenware sculptures and bas relief decorations. Città di Castello has claim to once of the most famous modern artists of modern time, Alberto Burri, whose works are displayed in some of the most important museums of contemporary art in the world including the MOMA and Guggenheim. He donated, to the town, many of his major works to the Burri Foundation which is based at several locations in the town and where it is possible to see them in all their grand scale glory. Finally a small piece of gossip. The actress Monica Bellucci was born and grew up in the town and has added her own testimonial to encourage tourism to the local area. WHERE WE ARE (In UK) "Itinerary Language UK" is based in Birmingham, Stratford Upon-avon and Sidmouth in Devon. |
